The Grocery List Show Film Screening and Discussion

Carbondale, IL – Carbondale Public Library will host a special screening of The Grocery List Show to close out this year’s Indie Lens Pop-Up, the community-driven screening series from Independent Lens | PBS. Indie Lens Pop-Up is a neighborhood series that brings people together for film screenings and community-led conversations. The final screening of the season will take place on Sunday, May 17th from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Carbondale Public Library.
The Grocery List Show is a five-part series that follows “Top Chef” contender Chrissy Camba to five bustling international grocery stores in America and the communities they serve. Over five episodes, special guests and food enthusiasts join Chrissy to shop for ingredients and cook a favorite family recipe, as they celebrate global food traditions over a shared meal. Following the film, there will be a discussion led by Dr. Niki Davis, Professor of Practice in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management at SIUC and host of The Recipe Box Podcast, a food podcast that explores beloved family recipes, their histories, and stories behind them. Dr. Davis will be joined by her podcast co-host, Stephanie Rhodes. Feel free to bring a family recipe or food story to share during the discussion. This event is free and open to the public.
