Hit the Strip downtown for a special drag show at The Varsity. It’s Pride Month in Southern Illinois, and the Varsity turns 83! Vintage Jukebox 1983 will celebrate both occasions in a big way on Friday, June 16.
Recently crowned SI Pride Royal Leiyana Santana and Lumber Jill will be in the spotlight. This is Lumber Jill’s first appearance in a Varsity drag show, and you won’t want to miss this fabulous performer.
The show is emceed by Blanche DuBois, the Godmother of drag in Southern Illinois, who will also perform along with regulars Jodie Santana, Faim Lee Jewls and Christina Garnette, who will also be the evening’s hostess.
The show starts at 7 p.m. Doors and the Varsity Bar open at 6.
The show can be on the risqué side, and those 17 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Tickets are $10 for adults or $5 for students with ID. They are available in advance at Eventbrite
(bit.ly/3VH7E2T). Tickets are not available in advance at the venue but will be available on the night of the show when doors open at 6. Be sure to get tickets early; these shows almost always sell out.
