CARBONDALE –
Community Conversation: Unrest in the Middle East
We condemn any behavior that will make any residents within our community feel uncomfortable or
unsafe due to their race, religion, sexuality, gender identity, or any other form of discrimination.
The Carbondale community mourns for all innocent civilians lost in this ongoing conflict in Palestine &
Israel, and for our communities impacted in Carbondale and worldwide.
At the request of our community, the City of Carbondale is facilitating a community gathering on Tuesday,
April 30th, 5:30- 7 PM, at the Carbondale Public Library to provide a safe space for our community
members to speak to their lived experience and express their grief and concerns.
Following this gathering, a candlelight vigil will be held to honor and grieve the unjust loss of life we have
collectively witnessed in the last several months.
For more information, contact public relations officer at 618-457-3262.

“Carbondale prides itself on providing its visitors, students, businesses and residents with a unique mix of edge
and ease. It’s a cultural town, yet free of pretense, embracing the great outdoors as readily as urban
sophistication. Here, we are open to new ideas, experiences and cultures, so you are encouraged to both
express yourself and be yourself, in all ways. That’s Carbondale…All Ways Open… for family, fun, business,
new ideas and a bright tomorrow.”
