AAUW Carbondale Branch to Host Luncheon Featuring Army Captain and SIU Professor

The Carbondale Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host its annual Soup and Salad Luncheon on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the SIU Campus Northwest Annex Building A, 850 Lincoln Drive.
The event, titled “Breaking Barriers, Building Leaders: Women in Uniform,” will feature guest speaker Captain Cheria L. Chiglo, U.S. Army, Assistant Professor of Military Science at Southern Illinois University and member of the Saluki Strike Battalion.
Lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with the program beginning at 12:15 p.m. and concluding at 1:00 p.m.
Captain Chiglo will share insights on leadership, breaking barriers, and the experiences of women serving in the military. Her presentation promises to highlight the unique challenges and opportunities facing women in uniform today.
The AAUW Carbondale Board will provide lunch with a minimum donation of $10 (cash or check). All proceeds will benefit the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund, which supports workplace justice and educational opportunities for women.
