The 33th IFCO/Pastors for Peace Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba will travel to Cuba in July with 75 people. The Peace Coalition of Southern Illinois is helping organize a VIRTUAL event on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 5:30PM when an IFCO activist will update us on Cuba and the work of Pastors for Peace. The Caravan plans to take 5 tons of badly needed medicines and medical supplies on the plane with them. In preparation they are spreading the word and collecting funds to buy the medicines and supplies. While Cuba develops its own vaccines, simple medicines are in such short supply P4P will purchase them in bulk. The 60 years plus embargo, hurricanes, COVID, world-wide economic difficulties and the Trump designation of Cuba as a sponsor of terrorism, not yet reversed by the Biden administration have had a severe impact on the economy of Cuba. This has contributed to the increase in Cubans seeking a life elsewhere, many attempting to get to the U.S.
