Who needs New York City when you can get a fantastic show featuring the
songs of Broadway in the heart of downtown Carbondale?
“Broadway on Illinois” is the theme of the Varsity’s next drag variety show on Friday, May 19.
The show features Blanche DuBois, the Godmother of drag in Southern Illinois, along with
regular performers Jodie Santana, Faim Lee Jewls, Leiyana Santana, Holly Haliwell, Idina Rimes
and Christina Garnette, who will also be the evening’s hostess.
The show starts at 7 p.m. Doors and the Varsity Bar open at 6.
The show can be on the risqué side, and those 17 and younger must be accompanied by a
parent or guardian.
Tickets are $10 for adults or $5 for students with ID. They are available in advance at Eventbrite
(bit.ly/3VH7E2T). Tickets are not available in advance at the venue but will be available on the
night of the show when doors open at 6. Be sure to get tickets early; these shows almost always
sell out.
Come early and enjoy special cocktails at the bar in the company of Christina and the Varsity
staff.
