MAKANDA, IL – Come to Giant City as we kick off Halloween in the park! On Saturday, October 25th from 1-
3 pm, walk the accessible 1/3 mile Post Oak trail for an easy, self-guided hike through the beautiful forest.
Along the trail, your family will meet our creature characters who will teach you about some of the wonderful
and most misunderstood creatures that call Giant City home! Treats and goodies for all the hikers! The trail
will take 20-30 minutes. Parking will be located at shelter #5 parking lot. For more information please call the

Giant City State Park is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The mission of the IDNR
is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois’ natural, recreational and cultural resources, further the public’s
understanding and appreciation of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of
Illinois’ natural resources for present and future generations.
