Women for Change, Unity in the Community Carbondale organization will celebrate its Annual BIG
EVENT- our traditional Unity March, a celebration at Attucks Park, and a youth basketball tournament
on June 8, 2024. The Unity March will bring together diverse groups; religious, environmental, Greek,
University, and civic organizations to exemplify our goal- “Unity in the Community”.
This year, our theme is “WE SAY NO TO GUN VIOLENCE”.
Big Event Highlights:
•Youth Basketball Tournament- 10 am – 7 pm, Ages 10-17. Registration and Waiver are on our
Facebook page.
•The Unity March Parade- 11:00 Lineup. 11:30 am March will begin. We will line up at Rockhill Baptist
Church on South Marion and Monroe streets marching northward onto Marion Street East Oak Street
North Wall Street to Attucks Park. You are welcome to join us on any leg of the march. All organizations
are to march with your organization’s banner and flyers.
•Celebration at Attucks Park- Our celebration at the park will begin at noon featuring speakers from
environment and community activist groups, community performances, games and activities for our
youth, and entertainment for adults. There will be community group information tables and a Voter
Registration table. Food and Non-Food Vendors will also highlight the event. Food Vendors: $75, and
Non-Food Vendors $25. Organization Tabling – FREE. Please bring your canopy tent and tables for setup
starting at 9:30. All vendors and organizations are requested to complete setup by 11.30 am.
Donations needed:
Snack items: paper-wrapped food items only: Water, Gatorade, Trail mix, individually packaged cookies,
and chips.
25 Volunteers Needed:
Parade Marshalls, Food Servers, Basketball Referees, playground monitors, set-up, event, and clean-up

Lunch may be purchased from the Vendors. The Basketball Tournament will have a free lunch for
youth (under 18 years old )provided by the Attucks Community Service Board. Snacks, Popcorn, and
Snow cones will be provided by Women For Change.
