The Artspace 304 board and staff announce that the 2023 Southern Arts Fund (SAF)
applications are now available. These grants provide vital, financial support to artists and
non-profit arts organizations throughout the Southern Illinois region, provide a wide array of
public art and entertainment, and ensure that the arts thrive for all who seek them.
This year, SAF grants are underwritten by the Illinois Arts Council Agency, National Endowment
for the Arts, Artspace 304, and a private foundation. We have $25,000 of SAF funds to
distribute; grant amounts range between $1500 and $3000. Projects are evaluated on the
following criteria: proposal quality, pursuit of excellence, community impact and need, dedication
and follow-through, and community support. The Southern Illinois Artists Council will review the
applications and make recommendations for grants to the Artspace 304 board of directors.
Applications must be submitted electronically and will be accepted on a rolling basis through
March 31. All funds must be used by August 31. More information and a link to the application
