MAKANDA, Ill. -It’s summer in southern Illinois and even though it’s hot and humid, that’s no reason to stop
hiking! Roll out of bed and join the Park Naturalist as we get some exercise and take in the early morning
woods on one of the 8 park trails. The trail will vary from 1-3 miles and will be moderately difficult with some
steep stair climbing.
This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Please call 618-457-4836 to register.
Giant City State Park is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The mission of the IDNR
is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois’ natural, recreational, and cultural resources, further the public’s
understanding and appreciation of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of
Illinois’ natural resources for present and future generations.
