Pride in Action, Southern Il is pleased to announce the return of the Southern Il Pride Pageant, where seven contestants will compete for the Southern Il PrideFest Royalty Court, 2023-2024. The event is family and kid friendly.
Join us as we welcome contestants from a 150 mile radius of Carbondale, IL compete for the positions of Ms. Southern Il Pride Queen, Mr. Southern Il Pride King, and Mx. In-Between. Contestants will compete in the categories of Talent, Pride-Wear, Interview and Fundraising. We will also honor the Reigning Royalty Court, Mr. Southern Il Christopher Matthews, Southern Il Pride King Faim Lee Jewls, and Southern Il Pride Queen Blanche DuBois through performances, special recognitions and a step-down ceremony.
The Southern Il Pride Royalty Court will take on volunteer support roles for Pride in Action, Southern Il and the Southern Il PrideFest until May of 2024, and will be featured in performances, parades, and fundraising for the duration of their reign. In light of the anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-Drag legislation proposed in our neighboring states, we have welcomed contestants from those regions to join us, as well as encourage audience participation from across Southern Il, Missouri and Kentucky. Proceeds will benefit the Southern Il PrideFest on June 10th, 2023 with partial proceeds donated to the Center for Empowerment and Justice.
The Varsity Center features concessions, refreshments and a bar.
