HALT U.S. MILITARY ATTACKS ON IRAN! END U.S. SUPPORT FOR GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE!
SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 2026, NOON TO 1:00 PM
The Peace Coalition of Southern Illinois will hold the Monthly Peace and Justice Vigil on Saturday, March 7, noon to 1 P.M. at the corner of Main and Illinois Ave., Carbondale. On Sunday, March 8 from 1:00 -2:00 P.M. join the weekly Rally for Peace in Gaza, corner of Main and Illinois Ave in Carbondale.
Despite progress on talks with Iran, the “America First” Administration and the genocidal government in Israel launched a brutal, destructive, destabilizing attack on Iran. Retaliation will only extend the violence. Gulf neighbors, U.S. service people, shipping and commerce are all impacted. The Peace Coalition endorses the call from Veterans for Peace to reject the ongoing war on Iran. The U.S. Congress should invoke the War Powers act and shut down the war! Secretary of State Rubio confessed that: the U.S. “knew there was going to be an Israeli action, so the U.S. acted first.” Again, the indicted war criminal Netanyahu has dragged the U.S. into committing war crimes and destabilizing the region. The war has given Israel the excuse to reimpose the total siege of Gaza, with food and fuel stores set to run out in days.
The U.S. has not learned the lessons from Iraq or Afghanistan or Libya, etc. The only guarantee is that the suffering and death of the people of Iran will continue just as the suffering and death of the Palestinians continues. No matter what the Trump administration claims, war will never lead to peace. It will cost thousands of lives. It will further destabilize the Middle East. And will it make all of us less safe.
Appropriate signs will be provided at the vigil, but all are invited to bring their own. The next monthly meeting of the Peace Coalition will be held on ZOOM, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, 6pm. For information about joining, contact georgeannhartzog@gmail.com.
