MONTHLY PEACE AND JUSTICE VIGIL:
CAMPAIGN NONVIOLENCE: TO BUILD A JUST, PEACEFUL AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2022 NOON TO 1:00 PM
The Peace Coalition of Southern Illinois will hold the Monthly Peace and Justice Vigil on Saturday, October 1, 2022, Noon to 1 P.M. at the corner of Main and Illinois Ave., Carbondale, as part of the week of “Campaign Nonviolence” Days of Action, September 21 which was International Peace Day to October 2, the International Day of Nonviolence.
During the Action Days, people from all walks of life are taking to the streets from Hawaii to Maine to protest ongoing U.S. warfare, extreme poverty, the devastation of the environment, and many other forms of violence, from the unjust detention of immigrants to police brutality to the continuing threat of nuclear weapons.
Campaign Nonviolence is a grassroots movement to mainstream active nonviolence using the vision of Martin Luther King, Jr. that calls us to become people of nonviolence and to resolve personal and global conflicts nonviolently. More information about the national campaign is available at www.campaignnonviolence.org.
Appropriate signs will be provided, but all are invited to bring their own. The next monthly meeting will be held on ZOOM on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, 6pm. For information about joining, contact georgeannhartzog@gmail.com.
