Carbondale has recently completed construction of its newest bike path funded by a Transportation
Enhancement Program grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation. There will be a ribbon cutting
ceremony on Wednesday September 27th at 5:30 PM* to celebrate this path’s opening. Mayor Harvey will be
there to speak at the ceremony and the name of this newest path will then be revealed.
The start of this path is located on North Oakland Ave, north of the Oakland Cemetery, across from the Green
Earth Oakland Preserve. It is a mile-long paved multi-use path that connects North Oakland Avenue and New
Era Road. Attendees are encouraged to come on their bike or on foot to explore and enjoy this newest addition
to Carbondale’s expanding bike lanes and trails.
*There is a scheduled rain date for Friday September 29th at 5:30 PM.
