The Ice Age breathed down the neck of Giant City State Park, and its
hills lived to tell about it! On Saturday, June 25th from 10am-Noon, take an interactive
portal back to the Pleistocene era through hands on “mammoth tracking” activities.
Get a glimpse of southern Illinoins’ 13,000-year-old chilly past with local Interpreter,
Steve Gariepy. Please call 618-457-4836 to register.
This will be an outdoor program. Visitors are reminded to practice social distancing and
have a mask for use when social distancing cannot be achieved.
Giant City State Park is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The mission of the IDNR is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois’ natural,
recreational and cultural resources, further the public’s understanding and appreciation
of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of Illinois’
natural resources for present and future generations.
