Shawnee National Park & Climate Preserve program set for Tues Sept 19 in Carbondale
Have you heard the talk about the Shawnee National Park? Would you like to learn more? An informational presentation will be held on Tuesday, Sept 19 at 7 PM at the Carbondale Civic Center, 200 S. Illinois Ave, Carbondale IL.
Plan now to attend this free public presentation, sponsored by Shawnee Chapter Illinois Audubon Society, and discover how creating the new Shawnee National Park and Climate Preserve will help sustain Southern Illinois communities and economies into the future, share the story of our rich cultural history, protect our native flora, fauna, and natural areas, as well as further establish Illinois as a national leader in nature-based climate solutions, all while keeping current recreational opportunities intact and establishing Illinois’ first National Park.
Members of Shawnee Park and Climate Alliance (SPACA) will present an engaging and informative program, followed by a Q&A session.

Shawnee Chapter is the local chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society. Established in 1897, the Illinois Audubon Society is Illinois’ oldest non-profit, independent conservation organization, whose mission is to promote the perpetuation and appreciation of native plants and animals and the habitats that support them.
