MAKANDA, IL – School is out for the summer so let’s get creative at Giant City State Park! During the month of June,
we have six filled-to-the-brim FUN nature programs for kids!
Thursday, June 4th, 10am-Noon: Secret Superpowers of Butterflies and Dragonflies. Ages 6-12.
Wednesday, June 10th, 1pm-3pm: Exploring Beauty in Nature. Ages 8-12.
Thursday, June 11th, 10am-Noon: Something’s Fishy at Giant City. Ages 6-12.
Thursday, June 18th, 10am-Noon: Plantable Paper Seedlab. Ages 6-12.
Wednesday, June 24th, 10am-Noon: Mothscapes for Kids. Ages 6-12.
Thursday, June 25th, 10am-Noon: Crafty Trails with Jen. Ages 6-12.
These summer art programs are FREE and open to the public. Please remember that children must be accompanied by an
adult at all times. Please call 618-457-4836 to register.
Giant City State Park is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The mission of the IDNR is to
manage, conserve and protect Illinois’ natural, recreational and cultural resources, further the public’s understanding and
appreciation of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of Illinois’ natural resources for
present and future generations.
