CARBONDALE – The Good Samaritan Ministries hosts the annual Souper Bowl of Caring February 1st through February 9th. The Annual Souper Bowl of Caring is an event created by Tackle Hunger, a national
nonprofit that mobilizes communities across the U.S. to fight food insecurity. For over 30 years, this
nationwide movement has empowered individuals, schools, and organizations to raise food and funds for
local charities and food banks.
This year marks the 25th year the Annual Souper Bowl of Caring will be hosted by the Good Samaritan
Ministries in Southern Illinois. Good Samaritan Ministries, established in 1985 by the Carbondale
Interfaith Council, has been dedicated to providing shelter, food, counseling, and advocacy for those in
need. Through programs like an emergency shelter, a transitional housing program, a soup kitchen, and a
food pantry, they work to help the homeless help themselves and ensure everyone has access to essential
resources.
As millions gear up for game day, we’re gearing up to fight hunger on our home turf. It’s crunch time!
Let’s work together to ensure no one in our community goes without food. Whether you’re a sports fan or
not, this is your chance to make a real impact. Donate to the Good Samaritan Ministries during the Souper
Bowl of Caring campaign from February 1st through February 9th by visiting goodsamcarbondale.com and
you can get “play by play” updates by following the Good Samaritan House on Facebook throughout the
week.
