Harrisburg, Illinois, June 13, 2022 – For Immediate Release.
Today the Shawnee National Forest announced the opportunity to submit proposals to obtain
special use permits for concessionaire operation and maintenance of government-owned
recreation sites at Lake Glendale Recreation Area and Redbud Campground. The prospectus will
be open for proposals until August 19, 2022. The new special use permit will replace the current
concession permit which expires December 31, 2022.
Both campgrounds are located on the Hidden Springs Ranger District of the Shawnee National
Forest, approximately 25 miles south of Harrisburg, IL. The operator is responsible for all
operations and maintenance of the permitted government-owned recreation facilities as
specified in the prospectus. An information meeting and tour of the sites will be offered on
Tuesday July 12, 2022.
Questions raised during the site visit will be addressed and information will be shared with all
potential applicants. An itinerary for the site visit will be posted by June 17, 2022, on the
Shawnee National Forest website, Shawnee National Forest – Home (usda.gov).
The prospectus and all appendices will be available on the Shawnee National Forest website at
Shawnee National Forest – Home (usda.gov) and at SAM.gov. Applicants will have until August
19, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time to submit a complete proposal. Detailed
