Food Works and Southern Illinois Farming Alliance will host an in-person field day event at La
Colina Linda LCL on Sunday, May 21st from 1pm-4pm.

– Come join Southern Illinois Farming Alliance and La Colina Linda of Cobden for an in person
field day event on Sunday May 21st from 1pm-4pm on Food Forest, Planted and Foraged Perennial
Herbs.
La Colina Linda Farms LCL is a MOSA Certified Organic farm owned and operated by Kathy Ward &
Jerry Kinser. They specialize in planting and foraging perennial herbs for market and value added
products using vegan inputs and practices. They grow and forage a variety of fruit, vegetables, herbs and
root vegetables. Growing practices on the farm include permaculture, double dug beds, soil blocking and
the use of high tunnels, cover crops and tarps. La Colina Linda LLC will have herbal tea samples
available during the event and will have some of their value added products for sale by cash/check only.
They also have year round online ordering of bake to order gluten free vegan breads and vegetables on
their website Lclfarm.com.
Noah Scalero, Illinois FarmLink Navigator for The Land Connection will also be available during the
event to provide information on their land access services connecting landowners and farmers seeking
land.
This event will be limited to 25 people. To register for this event please visit
www.fwsoil.org/field-days/. This event is family friendly and a vegan only potluck will follow the tour and
discussion. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather for this outdoor event and be prepared
for uneven terrain throughout the farm. Bring a chair, beverage, and a vegan dish to share. Field days
are a free event for members of Food Works but a $10 suggested donation for non-member guests is
greatly appreciated.
The Southern Illinois Farming Alliance (SIFA) is a farmer-driven network, whose focus is to
encourage area farmers, gardeners, and local eaters to learn from one another and is just one of the
