Thursday, July 8, 2021 7:30 pm CT, featuring:

Emily Thomas, IFCO/Pastors for Peace, will provide an update, including video material from Cuba, on Cuba’s successes in fighting COVID, producing its own vaccines, the state of the embargo under Trump and what Biden should do to change Cuba policy. She will report on Pastors for Peace efforts to end the blockade. Dr. Samira Addrey, ELAM Scholarship Coordinator, graduate of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Havana and Coordinator of IFCO’s Medical School Project will share information about the Cuban Government scholarships that have trained almost 200 young people from humble backgrounds in the US to become doctors and return home to work in under-served communities.

There will be time for Q&A and discussion. This event is a fundraiser for IFCO/Pastors for Peace and is sponsored by the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization/Pastors for Peace, the Peace Coalition of Southern Illinois, the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship Social Action Committee and the Church of the Good Shepherd UCC.
