The City of Carbondale, Carbondale Public Library, and the Survivor Empowereent will celebrate community members that protect victims and serve communities at a special National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) kick-off event on April 19th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Carbondale Town Square Pavilion.
This event will embrace the 2026 NCVRW theme, Listen. Act. Advocate. Protect Victims, Serve Communities, by celebrating victim advocates, service providers and the everyday individuals who listen and act to support victims of crime across Southern Illinois.
Attendees will enjoy free refreshments and live music by Shaad Schubert. In addition, they will learn about local, state, and national resources that serve various victims of crime. Attendees will hear from local victim advocates, services providers, and crime survivors to learn how they can listen, act, and advocate so support their friends, family, and community members.
This event is free and open to the public. To learn more about the 2026 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, resources, or local events recognizing the 2026 NCVRW, please contact Dianah McGreehan at dmcgreehan@carbondaleil.gov or 618-457-3282.
