The Jamir Strong Legacy Foundation announces its 3rd Annual
Toy Drive in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Throughout September, the foundation will collect new toys,
comfort items, blankets, gift cards valued at $15 or less, and
monetary donations.
This year’s toy drive marks an exciting new chapter. Following
last year’s toy drive, when donations were given to Friends of
Kids with Cancer as the foundation was becoming an official
nonprofit organization, the Jamir Strong Legacy Foundation will
now keep and distribute the donations through its own
programs. Rather than making a one-time donation, the
foundation will make periodic deliveries throughout the year to
stock toy closets at pediatric specialty hospitals where many
children from Southern Illinois receive treatment, helping ensure
children continue to receive comfort and encouragement
beyond September.
As the foundation grows, it also hopes to use donated toys to
celebrate birthdays and other special moments for children in
treatment and their siblings, while expanding its ability to
provide financial assistance to families throughout Southern
Illinois facing childhood cancer.
