CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale participates in the Southern Illinois Aggregation Partnership
(SIAP), a group of 94 communities that purchase electricity supply together to help secure competitive rates for
residents.
The current aggregation rate through Homefield Energy is $0.11789/kWh, fixed from June 1, 2025, through
June 2026. This is lower than Ameren’s summer price to compare of $0.12547/kWh (June–September 2025).
What to Expect Going Forward
• The program is being updated to provide more stable pricing through December 2028
• The base portion of the rate will be locked in long-term, with only capacity costs changing over time
• Residents can opt out at any time with no fees
• A new website tool will be available to track current rates
• Fewer opt-out letters will be sent moving forward
One final opt-out mailing is expected before the current contract period ends in 2028.
Opt-Out Information
Residents will receive a letter from Homefield Energy if eligible.
• Do nothing to remain in the program
• Opt out by following the letter instructions or calling 866-694-1262
There is no penalty to opt out at any time.
Important Notes
• Residents who have previously opted out will generally not receive additional letters
• Ameren’s 12-month minimum stay rule may apply if switching back to their supply
• Solar customers may want to opt out to avoid losing net metering credits
