Community invited to evening showcase featuring Southern Illinois photographer

CARBONDALE, IL — Forbes Financial Group will host a public artist reception this Thursday, March 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at its Carbondale headquarters, featuring the work of local photographer and visual creative Calvin Mennyweathers (CM Designs & Photography).

The event is open to the community and will include light refreshments as guests are invited to explore a collection of photography that highlights both the built and natural environments of Southern Illinois and beyond.

Calvin’s work captures the interplay between architecture, light, and landscape, showcasing everything from the skyline of Chicago to the formations of Garden of the Gods and familiar scenes around Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

“This work is about paying attention. It’s about recognizing beauty in both the built environment and the natural one, and finding connection in the places we pass every day.”

The reception reflects Forbes Financial Group’s ongoing effort to create a space that brings together community, creativity, and conversation. The firm recently opened its new headquarters with the vision of hosting local artists, nonprofits, and gatherings that strengthen connections across Southern Illinois.
