(Carbondale, IL) The Carbondale Community Farmers Market is excited to announce the
market opening on Saturday, December 3rd! This is a winter season, indoor farmers market,
open Saturdays, December 3rd, 2022 until March 25th, 2023 (closed for the holidays on
December 24th and December 31, 2022) at the University Mall in Carbondale (Theater
entrance).
As a producer-only market, everything for sale is grown, cooked, baked, or made by the
person manning each booth. Offerings will include a wide range of sustainably grown
vegetables, grass-fed meats, infused olive oils, fresh breads and baked goods, herbs, gourmet
mushrooms, syrups, jams, jellies, local honey, hot sauces and other canned goods. Customers
will also find soaps, body products, crafts, homemade pet treats, knife sharpening and holiday
decorations. Coffee and teas will also be available on site for patrons to enjoy while shopping.
The market is located in the theater wing of the University Mall every Saturday morning
from 10a.m. until 1pm, where parking is free. We are excited to offer live music this year and live
cooking demos that feature produce and products available at our market. We will also be
introducing a new Kids Club Program that will offer free children activities every Saturday. Kids
will receive their own Kids Club market tote bag to decorate. Each week they will have the
opportunity to take part in different crafts, food challenges, or community activities. Upon
completion of their activity kids will be rewarded with pins to place on their tote bags.
Carbondale Community Farmers Market will be partnering with other community organizations
like Carbondale Park District during these weekly Kids Club events. Carbondale Park District will
be on site the first Saturday of each month in January through March to offer free kids activities
to the kids in the CCFM Kids Club program. No prior registration is required for CCFM Kids
Club. Families are encouraged to plan their trip to the market accordingly as activity materials
may be limited.
This year the market continues to welcome SNAP customers with the Link Match double
coupon program. Customers who receive SNAP benefits can use their LINK card to purchase
SNAP eligible foods at the market, and the Link Match program matches these purchases with
up to $25 per swipe to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at the market.
Carbondale Community Farmers Market is a program of Food Works, which is a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization, facilitating the development of a regional food economy in
Southern Illinois. We believe that a truly enduring approach emphasizes access to good food for
everyone, which keeps food dollars circulating in local communities, and balances human needs
with the health of the air, water and land resources on which all life depends.
Please note that the market will be closed for the holidays on Saturday, Dec. 24 and
Saturday Dec. 31, 2022.
