MAKANDA, Ill. -On Sunday, July 10th from 1-3pm join local Naturalist and wild food
enthusiast, Alex Holmes, as he gives an introduction to edible summer and fall wild mushrooms.
Alex will discuss identification, foraging and preparation. A simple sampler of mushrooms will
be prepared after the presentation.
This mostly indoor program is free and open to the public but registration is required.

Giant City State Park is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The
mission of the IDNR is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois’ natural, recreational and cultural
resources, further the public’s understanding and appreciation of those resources, and promote
