MAKANDA, IL – Join interpretive guide Steve Gariepy as he leads a ¾ mile moonlight hike
on Friday, March 18th from 7-8:30pm.
While hiking, consider the nocturnal activities of forest animals, of native people who once
sheltered at Giant City and explore your senses and relationships to the night!
This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Visitors are required
to observe current guidance from the CDC and Illinois Department of Public Health
regarding face coverings and social distancing.
This program is dependent upon the weather. Please call 618-457-4836 to register.
Giant City State Park is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The
mission of the IDNR is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois’ natural, recreational and
cultural resources, further the public’s understanding and appreciation of those resources,
and promote the education, science and public safety of Illinois’ natural resources for present
and future generations.
